Robinson Elementary - Kindergarten
Week of May 21st
Thank you to all the kindergarten families for coming to Open House! We hope you enjoyed seeing all your child's hard work! It's hard to believe that we only have 18 days of kindergarten left! Enjoy your long weekend!
On Friday, we had our "I am a Scientist" Day! The morning classes went to a fantastic assembly by Robby the Mad Scientist! They learned about matter and the different states; solid, liquid and gas. He blew up balloons and other things. The highlight of the show was the rocket launching! Ask you child about it!
Mrs. Lunzer from Mrs. Ortega's class came in and taught the students about what soap does. They learned that oil and water don't mix, but that soap combines (holds hands) with the oil/dirt and water and lets it mix. They then made their own soap. They picked their soap color and the scent. Thank you Mrs. Lunzer and to all the parent volunteers! The students were all very excited about their soap!
Just a note about the Sea LIfe Reports! The students were given three weeks to work on this project because we hoped the first week would be spent researching their animal, the second week spent on writing their report and the last week is to practice presenting their report to the class! We would like the students to send in their "report paper" along with their board, but if they want to add more to their reports that is GREAT!!! The boards are to help them with their presentations. I hope this answers your questions. If you have any others. Please feel free to e-mail your child's teacher. THANKS! We are looking forward to listening all the students give their first reports!

TED video - Check it out!
Please watch the attached TEDx Manhattan Beach video. It is by one of our wonderful Robinson Parents, Mary Helen Immordino-Yang. It is about brain research. Very interesting!
