I am Mrs. Fulton and I am happy to be your child's Kindergarten Teacher. I have taught most of my career in Manhattan Beach Unified School district. I spent my childhood growing up in neighboring Hermosa Beach, with Valley Park as my backyard and 22nd Street as my beach. Robinson Elementary feels like home!
I knew I wanted to be a teacher by the time I was in third grade. I went to college locally, graduating from CSUDH with both my Liberal Arts Degree and teaching credential while working as a classroom assistant for MBUSD and as a MB Parks and Recreation leader. This hometown girl loves the joy and magic of seeing lightbulbs go off and the love of learning develop in my students. I am grateful for the opportunity to teach in such an amazing community!
As well as my elementary multiple subject and middle school English credentials, I also have certificates in Gifted and Talented Education (UCI), The California Reading an Writing Project at UCLA (Trainer of Teachers), and Cognitively Guided Instruction of Mathematics (UCLA). I have also completed over half of my administrative credential work at CSULB. I've also taught Professional Development classes for Los Angeles County's Head Start programs.
I love my family time and enjoy reading, cooking, entertaining, and spending time in nature. Every holiday season I give the interior of my home a makeover into what my husband calls a "Winter Market." It brings me great joy! Some of my favorite places are the coastal forests of central and northern California, Yosemite , Joshua Tree, and Zion National Parks. I love to go whale watching, and have been lucky to see several types, including Blue Whales, just off our coast. Traveling to New York to visit two of my children also tops my list these days.
I've been married to my college sweetheart, Steve going on 30 years this summer. You may have read his creative stories about life growing up in Manhattan Beach in The Easy Reader. He works as a Director of New Technologies and AI for Mattel Toys. We've been fortunate to raise our family close to our roots. We have three children, Rachel (26), Owen (21) and Case (18). I am beyond proud of each of them. Rachel earned a linguistics degree from CSULB. Owen is completing his fourth year at Sarah Lawrence College. He's planning to stay in academia a while longer, perusing his PhD. My youngest recently graduated from Redondo High School and is studying costume and fashion design at The New School/Parson's in The Big Apple. Case recently landed their first Off-Broadway position as Assistant Costume Supervisor for the upcoming production of the East End's Maddie.
